PICK-UP

PICK-UP

So you want to join, huh? Well, it's easy!

Comment to this post with your name, contact, character, and 1-3 paragraphs describing a little bit about what will make them unique. What is their AU, and how does it set them apart? What game were they part of? What relationships do they have on arrival? Do they have any motivations for staying here? If they've come straight from canon, go into why they would stay here or why they'd visit, and what's going on back in canon and some personality.

In addition, please include a link to an opt-out post! Starhue Valley is an open and inclusive playground with a wide variety of players, so it's only natural a few of them might not click with each other. We'd like everyone to be able to curate their RP experience here for their comfort, so an opt-out post to allow for that is required to be accepted. It doesn't have to be fancy— just there! Here are some examples.

Canon: Dragon Age
Character: Cullen Rutherford
Variation: OU
About:
Cullen knew from a young age that he wanted to be a Templar. For years he harassed the local Templars in his hometown of Honnleath in hopes that they would teach him their ways. They did, albeit simply to humor him at first, and eventually he was accepted into their ranks once a higher ranking knight saw the potential in his abilities. He trained with them and was eventually placed in Kinloch Hold to watch over the mages there.

Unfortunately, Kinloch Hold would fall not long after during the Fifth Blight, and would be overrun by abominations and blood mages desperate for escape. During the chaos he would be trapped by said mages; leaving him scarred with memories of his comrades dying horrible, bloody deaths in the halls of the tower. These memories had a lasting impact on him, obviously, and he was eventually sent out and to Kirkwall to serve under Knight Commander Meredith.

Until this point, Cullen's opinions on mages had been... neutral, for the most part. He wanted to help people, to protect them, and that included the mages under his service. Kinloch Hold had scarred him deeply however, and though he tried his best to control himself, he would often slip into moments of 'mages cannot be trusted' and other such bias that had been drilled into him by the knight commander and everything he had seen before hand. He followed Meredith almost blindly, seeing her transformation but never being able to go against her. Not until the end, anyway.

He took command when Meredith fell, still dedicated to the Chantry and the Templars despite his slightly shaken faith, and then eventually joined the Inquisition at the behest of Cassandra. It's during this time that he dedicated himself to mending his ways; to accepting that the horrors he experienced shaped him, but would not change him from his ultimate goal of protecting innocents and anyone that needed him.

Cullen is a conflicted man, dealing with the fallout of all that happened to the order he trusted and pledged his life to, but still doing his best to be a good person. He's dedicated, kind, and always willing to do what he must in the face of danger. And although his stern demeanor suggests that he's a bit of a stiff, he has proven many a time that he cares for the people around him and would ultimately die for the Inquisitions cause if need be.
