Arrival
After a nice bus ride, characters arrive near to the farms. They'll have a welcome package waiting for them - including a jPad, a map to their farm, around 500 gold (or the equivalent of whatever money they'd had before) and a recording of the Junimo's message explaining their situation (the one from the profile page). After this? It's up to them to find a new life out here...! Hopefully, this page can help you get ideas on how this world works.Network and jPad
When characters arrive, they get a rip-off iPad from the Joja Corporation. This can do all that an iPad can do - access the internet (complete with glorious bland-name services such as Huetube and Hue-gle) and connect to the Starhue Valley Network. This is how characters can text people, and send audio and video. Feel free to make up what yours can do - just remember the technology is close to our level of technology. (Also, these are a lot more durable then a regular iPad. Made for the community!)Home Sweet Home
Each character has been given one patch of farmland to call their own. What kind? That's up to you! There's more information on Locations page. However, no matter which farm you pick it will have a farmhouse and a broken greenhouse somewhere on it. Farms start out messy and decrepit, but come with a handy chest full of tools and some seeds to help you clean things up and get started. Some tools may even be things you recognize from home!Of course, if you're not the farming type or just have plans to stay somewhere else, you're welcome to trade, sell, or give away your farmland.
Seasons
Time runs on a 1:1 time scale, and is connected to our current seasons - so, when the game opened, it was Summer. Different plants grow in different seasons.Crafting
Why should characters keep items they collect instead of just selling them? Because they can use them to craft goods. For example, they could use some wood to make fences to keep their animals in, or to build a shack. The wiki has a list of canon recipies. However, of course, you can let your character make other things! They can also cook them up, obviously.
Money
The currency of Stardew Valley is Gold - which exchanges at around 100 Gold for 10 USD, as a rough estimate. When people arrive, they'll either get around 500 Gold or a rough conversion of however much money they'd had at home.Lists of Rarities/Seasonal Items

For more information, check the Stardew Valley wiki page on crops! While they are season dependent, one of the buildings any farm can get is a Greenhouse - which lets characters grow any fruit in any season. This is a baseline for what kind of seeds characters may also grow from home.
~The Fruit Trees, while they can grow in any season, only produce fruit during the seasons listed above
* Ancient Fruit can only be grown from Ancient Seeds, which are found rarely.

Mining
The mines can be accessed from the mountains.
On lower floors, however, different materials exist - for the main mines, there are three groups of around 40 floors. That's why there's three different charts. On average, it would take a character one to two hours to find a way down per floor. Luckily, every five floors, the elevator will seem to remember how far people have gone down!

Floors 1-40 These floors look like regular cavern floors - however, weeds seem to grow from cracks on the ground at times.

Floors 41-80 As you move from the regular caverns above, these ones are... oddly frozen. Seeming more like an ice cavern then what should be above - try and bring a coat!

Floors 81-120 Again, the floors seem to shift suddenly - from ice to brimstone, hotter then it should be. However, those who brave the heat can find some of the rarest and best gems out there!
