FARMLANDThere are five basic layouts for farmland your character can begin with - each with pros and cons.

Standard Farm: This variety of farm is best for planting crops and raising livestock. It is primarily made up of tillable soil, with a small pond or two, generally just useful for refilling a watering can.

Riverland Farm: A farm sitting on the riverbed, this variety is ideal for those who want to make their gold by fishing. There is not much land to plant crops or keep livestock on, but fish from both the river in town and the Cindersap Forest rivers can be found here.

Forest Farm: A farm tucked into the woods. This variety is good for those who wish to live off the land in the most traditional sense, but has even less room for planting crops and raising animals. Many foragable items are found on these farms, as well as resources such as wood.

Hill-Top Farm: A variety of farm for miners. In the southwest section of this farmland, there’s an area where rocks can be mined for ore and geodes, as well as raw stone, which is handy for construction. There isn’t much space for traditional farming here, but there is a river that cuts through the land, allowing for fishing.

Wilderness Farm: Here, monsters come out at night, so it’s an ideal place for those who like to fight and/or wish to hone their combat skills. This farm type has the second-highest amount of land for crops and livestock, though that’s still notably less than the Standard Farm.

No matter what layout you choose for the farm you begin with, there's a few buildings - and a few characters can get built!

Farmhouse
Characters start with the beginner's farmhouse— only with a kitchen and bathroom attached. If you want to live with somebody else instead, they'll either need to upgrade their house or get a cabin built on their farm - this is the same as a farmhouse.

Barn, Coop, Slime Hutch, and Stable
These are buildings your character needs to get before keeping certain types of animals - depending on the creature, you'll need to build one of these four.

Greenhouse
Allows crops from any season to grow at any time.
Seagull VillageAcross from the farms, on the other side of them then Pelican Town, Seagull Village is mostly open to the player characters. More information is on the player location page.
Pelican TownPelican Town is the central hub in Starhue Valley, and the place where most natives to the Valley live. It is also home to many important businesses. The mayor of Pelican Town is Lewis.

Pierre's General Store

A shop that primarily specializes in selling items for farming. Pierre will also buy a number of items in exchange for gold.

Clinic

A place where medical supplies can be purchased, and appointments for check-ups can be made.

Commuity Center

An old, barely-used building north of the rest of town. JojaMart would like to make it into a warehouse.

Museum
Part library, part museum, this building is the place where people can donate any artifacts or rare stones they find, or read books that will help them live in this new setting.

BLACKSMITH
The smithy where Clint works with ores to upgrade tools. He also sells ores and will process geodes gathered from mining for a small fee.
JOJAMART
Pelican Town’s branch of the large corporate JojaMart chain. The items here are not considered to be very high quality, but they are generally more affordable than at other shops. They're also the ones who make the jPad which runs the network... but oddly enough, they don't run the network themselves.
STARDROP SALOONGus’ saloon that sells beer and prepared foods. It’s a popular place for socialization in the evenings.
TRAVELING CARTEvery Friday and Sunday, a woman appears in this hippopotamus-drawn cart and sells an unusual assortment of items.
HOMES
Lewis, Alex, Evelyn, George, Pam, Penny, Jodi, Kent, Sam, Vincent, Emily, and Haley all have homes here, while others and their families live in the back of the businesses they run.
While there's no room in Pelican Town for new residents, there is room in Seagull Village...

THE BEACH

A place for fishing and gathering seashells, located south of town. This is also where Elliott’s cabin and the Fish Shop are located.
Cindersap Forest
Cindersap Forest is a sprawling forest located west of town. The Cindersap Forest contains many trees, a river, and a lake, and is also where Leah lives.

MARNIE'S RANCH
Home to Marnie, Jas, and Shane, and the place to buy livestock, as well as tools for working with animals.

ABANDONED HOUSE
An old, run-down building where a talking mouse sells hats.

WIZARD'S TOWER
Home to the Wizard, this is where he practices magic and offers some assistance to those in need.

SECRET WOODS
A hidden part of the forest accessible by cutting up a large downed branch. Slime monsters live here, but it’s also a good place to find more quality pieces of wood for building things. There's also wild Pokemon!
The Mountain and beyond...?Located to the north of town, the mountain is most notably home to the mines. It also hosts a lake, a railroad, and a quarry, as well as the tent where Linus lives.

CARPENTER'S SHOP
This building is not only where Robin the carpenter works, but also serves as her family’s home and Demetrius’ lab. This is where construction or upgrading of buildings can be ordered.

THE MINES
Underground caves where one can mine ore and rare stones, and find treasure. But be warned that monsters also call the Mines home. For more information on the mines, go to the Stardew 101 Page!

ADVENTURER'S GUILD
Right by The Mines is the Starhue Valley branch of the Adventurer’s Guild. Here, things like weapons and other items useful in the mines can be purchased.

THE QUARRY
Another place for mining rocks, this one's without monsters - but the rocks are a lot more random.

THE SPA
An artificial hot springs where people are free to relax and replenish their energy.

RAILROAD
A set of tracks and a train platform. It’s a connecting stop where one can watch the trains pass by.

Witch’s Swamp and Witch’s Hut:
A swamp located off from the railroad. Inside this area is a hut where the Witch lives, though it is guarded by a Goblin.

Beyond the Mountain?
Beyond the mountain is completely player decided! Feel free to make up anything there!
The Desert
THE CALICO DESERT
A busride away from town, this desert is where certain unique foragable items and fish can be found.

Skull Cavern
A dangerous cave not unlike the Mines.

Oasis
A shop run by Sandy. Some seeds can be bought here, along with other items.

Casino
The casino is run out of the back of the Oasis. Here, gold can be exchanged for Qi coins, which allow one to play the slot machines or a game of CalicoJack.
